Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Sky107, FAA Part 107 exam preparation, and how our AI-powered platform works.

What is Sky107?

Sky107 is an AI-powered web application designed to help drone pilots and aspiring Remote Pilots prepare for the FAA Part 107 (UAG) knowledge test. It covers the official exam curriculum — regulations, airspace, weather, and operations — with adaptive difficulty, real exam simulations, and detailed explanations.

Which FAA exams does Sky107 cover?

Sky107 covers the FAA Part 107 UAG knowledge test: 60 questions, 2 hours, 70% passing score. Content is aligned with the official FAA UAG Airman Certification Standards (ACS) — regulations (14 CFR Part 107), airspace classification, sectional charts, weather (METAR/TAF), loading and performance, and aeronautical decision making.

How does the AI adaptive difficulty work?

Sky107 adjusts question difficulty based on your performance. Score 80% or higher on a set of questions, and the system increases difficulty (EASY → MEDIUM → HARD). Score below 50%, and the difficulty decreases. This ensures you are always studying at the right level to maximize learning efficiency.

Is Sky107 available on mobile?

Sky107 is a web application optimized for desktop and mobile browsers. You can study anywhere, anytime from your phone, tablet, or computer — no app download required. The responsive design adapts to any screen size.

What is the AI Tutor and how does it work?

The AI Tutor is an interactive chat feature that helps you understand difficult concepts. When you encounter a question you do not understand, you can ask the AI Tutor for a simplified explanation. It uses AI to break down complex Part 107 topics — from 14 CFR regulations to turbine engine theory — into clear, digestible answers.

What plans are available?

Sky107 offers four plans: FREE (the first 2 modules of every category — General, Part 107), PRO MONTHLY ($29.99 per month with full access to all three exams and features), PRO YEARLY ($99 per year — two months free vs Monthly), and LIFETIME ($199 one-time payment for permanent access to all current and future content).

How many questions are in the question bank?

Sky107 includes a growing question bank of 300+ FAA-style questions covering every Part 107 ACS chapter. Questions are scenario-based with regulatory references (14 CFR Part 107, FAA Aeronautical Information Manual, advisory circulars). New questions are regularly added and updated to stay aligned with the FAA UAG ACS. FREE users get the first 2 chapters, while paid subscribers unlock all chapters and timed exam simulations.

What is covered in the General exam?

The FAA General knowledge test (AM.I) covers the fundamentals every mechanic must master: basic electricity, aircraft drawings, weight & balance, materials and processes, physics, mathematics, FAA regulations (14 CFR Parts 43, 65, and 91), ground operation and servicing, and maintenance forms and records (including FAA Form 337 and Airworthiness Directives). On Sky107, the General exam is included in the Free plan with all chapters and full explanations.

What is covered in the Airspace & Charts portion of the exam?

The Airspace Classification and Sectional Charts chapters cover the five classes of airspace (A through G), operating requirements for each class, special use airspace, and how to read FAA sectional charts: airport symbols, airspace boundaries, obstacles, frequencies, and airspace altitudes. This is about 20% of the Part 107 exam.

What is covered in the Weather portion of the exam?

The Weather chapters cover the basics of aviation weather for drone operations: reading METAR and TAF reports, weather sources (Aviation Weather Center, AFSS), the effects of wind, temperature, and visibility on drone flight, and how to make weather-based go/no-go decisions. About 5% of the Part 107 exam.

Do I need a medical certificate to take the Part 107 exam?

No. Unlike private pilot certification, there is NO medical certificate requirement for Part 107 remote pilots. You only need to be at least 16 years old and able to read, write, speak, and understand English. This makes the Part 107 certificate one of the most accessible FAA credentials.

Can I track my progress across exams?

Yes, Sky107 provides detailed analytics including accuracy by topic, difficulty progression, exam history, and performance trends. This helps you identify weak areas — down to individual ACS subject areas — and focus your study time effectively.

How do I get started?

Visit sky107.com to get started. Create a free account, choose the FREE plan to practice the first 2 modules of every exam category, and upgrade to PRO MONTHLY, PRO YEARLY, or LIFETIME when you are ready for all chapters and timed simulations.
